Living Real Life With God and Friends

What are Life Groups?

Life Groups are the truest model of the church as seen in Acts 2: 41-42.  Life Groups are small groups of people gathering in homes and experiencing teaching, fellowship, prayer, and the building of Godly relationships.  Life Groups provide love, concern, sharing, and the trust that every person needs.  They actively support and encourage each member in their walk of life and faith.

Why Join a Life Group?

I’ve had people tell me after a service, “Pastor John, it would be helpful if I could sit down with some others and discuss the implications of your message today.  You said so much; I need to digest it!”  Over fifty times in the New Testament the phrase “one another” is used to describe our relationship with other believers.  We are instructed to love one another, encourage one another, pray for one another, accept one another, bear one another’s burdens, and build up one another.  We really do need each other!  God never meant for us to be alone in the Christian life.  If you’re lonely, the answer to your problem just might be to join a Life Group.

  • You will deepen your understanding of worship.

Many believers mistakenly believe that worship can only happen on Sunday morning in a large group with a sermon, singing, and an offering plate.  Worship happens ANY TIME we focus on God.  Sometimes that happens best in a smaller group by praying, studying scripture, or singing together.

  • You will be a New Testament Christian.
The book of Acts is very clear about how God intends for His people to grow and have their needs met in the church.  We will never be able to hire enough professional pastors to meet all the individual needs in our family.  God never intended for it to be that way!

  • You will begin to really feel like part of God's family.
Most people who have been a part of a group say the greatest benefit is the close relationships and friendships that develop.  They will frequently telephone each other during the week to share an urgent prayer request or an exciting answer.  You’ll discover that your needs and problems are not unique—we’re all in the same boat!  It helps to know that others are facing the same difficulties or have lived though them and learned spiritual principles in the process.

Life Group structure:
We have set up our Life Groups to meet on a 3-semester basis:  October to December, February to April, and June to August.  Please begin praying about the new Life Groups that will be starting in February.

How do I fit into a group?
You choose a group that might interest you.  Call the host or facilitator and ask questions.  Come and visit the goup with no pressure to come back.  We want you to find a place where you feel comfortable and can grow in your faith.

What if there is not a group that fits my needs?
Our Life Group ministry is new, and we are developing group leaders and looking to start new groups all the time.  Talk with Pastor John about your needs.  It may take a while, but we will help you find a group that is just right for you.
